The African Students Association of Texas A&M University is a student ran socio-cultural organization that was founded in 1984 by a group of Nigerian graduate students. The purpose of the organization was to allow African students to showcase the uniqueness of their cultural heritage. Within our chapter, our goal is to create a culturally diverse environment that allows people who aren't necessarily even African to feel like they belong.
TAMU ASA is meant to foster a greater understanding and unity among students from all African countries attending Texas A&M University, while being inclusive and engaging towards all students.
We promote and support academic, athletic, cultural and social activities, and encourage participation in those said activities. By stimulating interaction among African students, students of TAMU, and the society at large, we bring Africa to Texas A&M.
